I had Botox twice - the first time with other procedures (banding of haemorrhoids and skin tag removal) and the second time, six months later, Botox alone. The botox alone was a breeze (I assume as you're in the UK it'll be done under general anaesthetic?). I have to say, that it didn't really work for me. It made things a bit better, but didn't get rid of the pain I was having (I finally had the LIS op which did get rid of the pain and I'm fine now). But the botox certainly didn't make things any worse, and the fact I wanted to have it again, after the first time, showed that it did have some beneficial effects.
The CRS I saw who performed the LIS operation said that there are some people for whom Botox doesn't work, and I was one, but he certainly had patients for whom it did work. If it wasn't effective for a good proportion of people, I don't think the NHS would offer it as they look at outcome compared to costs before they agree to offer a treatment.
One thing about Botox I remember, is that I think it takes a few days to a week to take effect after you have the injections. I didn't find the injections alone any problem at all.
Btw shouldi, I replied to the pm you sent me in early November, but I don't think you've picked up the reply as it's still in my outbox. I just didn't want you to think I hadn't replied. :)
All the best with things. :)
