This is a very interesting thread. I have bleeding and my pain has been much better for about 3 weeks. I do periodically stop bleeding (2-3 days), but like some of you, have very soft BMs, have learned how to control my fiber, and drink lots of water.
My story is that I was being treated for a chronic fissure until about a month ago when the CRS did an examination and told me "you are not presenting like a typical fissure case". When I questioned him more, he said that I had multiple lesions and much scar tissue. He said he would refer me to someone who might help (a surgeon, go figure...my CRS only does colonoscopies, nothing else), but was hesitant because there was so much damage--probably from previous, poorly done banding. That evening, after being examined, I developed a thrombosed hemmoroid and ended up in hospital. After three days bleeding, pain, painkillers and bed rest, my fissure symptoms became less, spasms went away and now I suffer only from local pain and a pain in my tailbone.
I guess my point is...we are all different and even though we go through similar symptoms and cycles of pain and bleeding, it is important to get an accurate diagnosis. This is where our doctors are failing us. I don't think bleeding from the bum is a good thing ANYTIME, but we all are so used to having doctors tell us that this is just the way it is, that we don't give it enough attention. Keep trying to find a doctor who can help. Most GPs will say you have hemmoroids, but there can be many other things going on down there. Trust your instincts and try not to go from website to website looking at symptoms. The info on this forum seems to be the best for me, but like anything else, I need to filter it and try to look at what might apply to my case.
Good luck and keep us posted. Remember, healing a fissure can take a long time and you need to treat yourself well with good food, lots of water, rest and decent medical care.
