Just had my LIS guys and just out from surgery. Feeling a bit sleepy from the anesthetic and burning pain from the fissure site. The nurse just gave me some painkillers.

Will keep updating on my condition. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. This forum has been a godsend when it came to reading about people's experiences with the unbearable, miserable, and disabling pain of anal fissures.

I just hope I get my life back in the next few days. I am not exaggerating when I tell you pain after bowel movements got so bad that for the first time in my life I fully understood why someone in constant pain would want to commit suicide to find relief.

Any information on what to expect in terms of pain is greatly appreciated.

Day 1 post op:

No BM yet. Anus feels much more relaxed and so sign of any discomfort from the fissure. Discomfort is mainly from the incision site. Minimal bleeding. Minimal pain. Can pass gas much easier than before. Some mild incontinence to gas and liquid stool that resolved throughout the day.

Just found out from my CRS that he cauterized the incision. I was a bit surprised as I thought the incision is either sutured or left open to heal. Anyone have their incision cauterized?
