Im having less problems with the sphincter tightening up. during my sigmoidoscopy today the intestines looked good i guess.
I'll know more at the end of the month. I also had my blood taken for some infection levels that were too high with my previous blood test

Miralax made my trip go just fine - no problems. It's now a new permanent member of my travel pack.
In fact, over the past 4 days, I can now report that I am pain-free. No pain or uncomfiness during or after BM. Funny enough though, one occassional weak zinger like every other day. Still - wow - no pain...!

My perception of this whole situation is. If you have surgery or you take botox etc, use ointments. All it does is relax the muscle to a degree so that the body has the possibility of healing the wound. Your body still needs to heal the wound on it's own. So if you are not experiencing any muscle spasms, or not as frequent any more than that surely should mean you are healing.
Im keeping that in mind and it gives me support to overcome this problem.

Mk, could you tell me whether you had pain on the day of the sigmoidoscopy, and did you have to prepare for it? I am a little nervous of my visit to the CRS next week as I am in pain most of the time. It is not to say that he will do that, in fact they did not say it would be more than a consultation, but just want to be prepared.

Just want to chronicle my experiences:
I'm still pain and discomfort free! Going to the bathroom no longer means I need to lay down for a couple hours afterwards.
The only puzzling thing now is that if I have more than one BM a day, there is a little blood on the TP.
What that means, I'm not sure... seems to me that the fissure is not healed then, although I am pain free. However, it still feels like things are moving in the right direction...

Yeah, pain free is the main thing! I wouldn't take the bleeding too seriously, as it can't be anything serious. I think if I were you, I'd just keep up the Movicol indefinitely. Image

Just like a lot of us here, I'm convinced that movicol is the number one reason my fissure became bearable. I just bought my Economy pack yesterday - I didn't know they made them that big!

Just having started with Movicol, I wonder how much you guys take? Till now I've been switching between 1 and 2 portions a day.
Also I need to find the best hours to take it. Is it for example unwise to take a portion late afternoon if you are going out for something in the evening? I'm not sure how long time after the intake it starts to work?

I'm just popping into the forum since I haven't been around much lately. I hope all oldtimers are well and all newbies are getting the benefits of this forum!
I'm holding in a pattern of being better - without any pain - but if I have a 3x-bathroom-visit day (no matter how soft or how little), there's blood on the TP and then my butt is feeling fragile. As if I am stepping a little too close for comfort back into the bad-old-days. I am eating a bit more normally again, but stick to the 2.5 tsp of movicol at night.
Here's to healing for all of us!
