Hi there, I am 33 and I have being dealing with pain and blood since 1 month.
Have been to a proctologist that at first told me I have haemorrhoids and in a second appointment he could not visit me do to a spasm and he gave me Nifedipine 0.2% to use for 4 weeks.

Im on my first week and saw 0 progress: same pain, same bleeding.

Is that normal? How long goes it takes to see results?

Do you think is going to get that bad that I will need surgery? I cannot take it anymore.

PS: I noticed that fiber supplements make my poop bulk and difficult to pass. Can this be an issue?

Hi there, Nifedipine takes up to 6 weeks to heal a fissure, but you also need to do supportive things during that time. Try an osmotic laxative like Miralax, drink plenty of water, reduce or eliminate the fiber supplement and anything else that causes bulky BMs, take a warm sitz bath once or twice a day, reduce stress, take slow walks for exercise if possible.

It's a long road to heal a fissure, and you will get there. If surgery is suggested, make sure you get all your questions and worries answered by the doctor.
