4 Weeks Post-op

Postby BrokenBuckeye » 28 Dec 2011, 23:12

Past the 4 week mark and doing great!
All seems to be going well down bellow. I am 98% pain free and have returned to a normal routine. The only unpleasant thing in the last week has been receiving my hospital bill on Christmas Eve ($14,000), of which I owe $2,000; however, I am yet to get the bill from the CRS. To use a tired euphemism: being fissure pain free, priceless! :D
This week I have been able to discontinue sitz baths and cotton balls (pain free BMs and no discharge). However, the memory of fissure pain has not faded and I have continued to stick to a high fiber, sensible diet. I am still taking a stool softener, but plan to slowly ween myself off over the next week.
The decision to have LIS is one of the best I have ever made, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is suffering from AF.

hi there, that's a piece of very good news!
remember high fiber diet is actually how one should eat healthily, so it's no loss but gain.

Thanks!
You are absolutely right about a high fiber diet. If AF has taught me anything, it's how to eat a proper diet. After four months of eating a high fiber/ low fat diet and loosing forty pounds, I'm looking forward to having my cholesterol checked next week.

yep, same for me too! I have ONLY started on high fiber diet when i had my fissure and i have higher energy level without having to rely on coffee and i have lost 6kg along the way. People ask me how i did it, as i'm looking great. hahaha.. guess the phrase "no pain, no gain" can be used on us!
