6 days post op

Well I am on the other side now! Had a LIS on 24th May, first BM was the worse, I was given Latolose by the hospital but it had such a imediate and explosive effect (pardon the description!) after just 2 doses, I had 5 BM's in 12 hours!! It was more like an enema than a 'little help'. Prob just the way my body reacted to it, any how had had the foresite to stock up on Movacol, now have that twice a day - perfect!
Jax - good luck I am sure you won't regrect it, I am not aware of the fissure being there now and although right up to when I went to theatre I was thinking way have I elected to do this, I must say the relif from the fissure was imediate. If this carrys on life will be great with out it.
I intend to take at least another week off work, I am not too bad in myself but find staying in one position too long agrevates it, so need to mix sitting, standing and walking during the day. (not poss at my work) I also still need to be near my bath a) to clean after BM b) to sooth the brusing, all the colours of the rainbow I've had down there!
One thing if any post LIS people can answer, right near the wond site I have a pea sized purple hard lump which hurts, no discharge, looks clean just really hurts. Any one else got this post surgery?

Hey Peachy, I'm glad you're on the other side. I hope you continue to heal smoothly. How painful was the first BM? From what I've read, that lump may be normal as long as there's no pus or blood oozing from it. But I'll leave an experienced patient help you with that.

Hi Jax,
1st BM was painful no denying it, prob slightly worse than when the fissure was really playing up. Had to tell myself to relax cause tensing up wasn’t helping. But, I felt MUCH better with the first one over, pain wasn't for long, had a hot bath waiting which gave IMEDIATE relief. Have one ready. Good Luck - have no regrets so far

Hi Peachy and congratulations on your surgery Image .
Glad to know your home and are feeling so confident with your decision as well as feeling the relief and benefits from the surgery Image
I too know I've read about the "lump" appearing after some surgeries, but am not familiar with it from my own experience. I'm hopeful someone will chime in here and offer you first-hand opinions on it.
Best wishes for continued and steady healing....keep us updated with your progress as you can Image
