external fissure...?

Postby Guest » 09 Sep 2007, 20:02

I have the sensation of a papercut just outside my anus. Is it possible to get an external fissure?

Dont leave it too long if it doesnt go away in a week or so and get it checked out , thats how i started, and I left mine for over a month, hoping it would go away all by itself and it didnt.
I so wish I hadnt, cos now I have a chronic fissure, and there is nothing worse than a sore butt

When I am in Atlanta I have gotten stuff compounded at the Eckerds off of Peachtree Street near Buckhead.
Don't know what area you are in.
My CRS works close to the Piedmont hospital.
I have had at least 12 bandings done in the last 4 years. I started to wonder if that would cause any stenosing of the canal but was told that repeated bandings should be fine.

I might have to get one--a banding that is. Do the bandings hurt? Have you ever gotten a fissure from one of them or had an otherwise bad experience?

I might be getting my first and I am not sure what to expect, so any info would be helpful. The med documents make it sound so easy, but I've heard that story before....

Actually it isn't that bad-and I have had just about everything imaginable done down there. It sounds terrible but where they band is above the dentate line so there aren't the sensory nerves. You will feel so pulling as they draw in the hemmie into the bander and then a tug when they put the band in place. It does feel like a bruise afterwards but nothing sharp. For me the discomfort lasted a few days but I have a nerve injury that makes me more sensitive to pain. My husband has had this done quite a few times and he drives right home and goes to work afterwards.
If you can sit in the tub afterwards and take advil you should do fine.
I never got a fissure from one. They do leave a scar behind though. I had some bleeding afterwards and when the band fell off for a few days but going to the bathroom did not hurt.
I think it is a good alternative to surgery which is how I got my first fissure.
Let us know what's going on. Is this the one that has been bothering you?
