A thread for Doctors, info, region, recommendations

Postby Elphie » 12 May 2011, 11:44

recently one of us had a horrific experience with her doc, I think a source like this on here would be helpful not just to complain but to find a good doc in your area of the world. If there was a sticky thread for this I'm sure many of us have things to say about our respective docs?

I think that is a great idea. I know I search/research on the met for whatever doctor I see, and to hear of other's good and bad experiences makes it easier to make an informed choice.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise that I support Elphie's suggestion! I think it's a great idea to share information about doctors - positive and negative info would be helpful.

I wish I could come up with some suggestions, but I am so far away from anywhere. I travelled to Boston to see my CRS. A Dr Rusin at Lahey Clinic. He was thorough but bedside manner was non existent. I had originally planned to go to JohnsHopkins to see a GI doctor by the name of Gerard Mullin, but never did get to do that. I researched him very thoroughly, but in the end, because of problems of being in pain 98% ofthetime, decided to go with a closer doctor and a colorectal surgeon. That is my contribution.

Highly recommend my GI doc at Rochester Mayo, John Schaffner. He's the best. Also have been seen in colorectal there twice, and both times had a superb CRS (2 different fellows).

I loved going to Mayo a few years back, Cherylk, and only wish it were not so impossible for me to get there from here. we went as I had a diagnosis of Pulmonary Hypertension, which in the end was not. Loved the buildings of the hospital, and the doctors I saw were wonderful.

I just read where an individual recently donated $100 million to Mayo for a new type of cancer treatment center in Rochester. It was the largest donation to Mayos from a person who is still living. Image I'm just happy that Mayos is only 6 hours from me by car.

If you live in the Atlanta area and need a good CRS.
It's been a great office to deal with.

And if you happen to live in Southwest Michigan--go see Dr. Chen in Kalamazoo, at Bronson Memorial hospital.
