Hi Sean. Today my CRS told me I have a "very small" abscess right next to my fissure in the 12 o'clock position. Everything I've read online says an abscess needs to be drained (mine is already leaking a small amount of pus), but my CRS wants to avoid anything that may worsen my fissure, so is treating with Cipro and Flagyl for 7 days. If it hasn't resolved in that time, I'll need a surgery to drain it. If you are able, it's best to have a CRS take a look as an abscess can lead to a fistula and you don't want that. An abscess can also lead to systemic problems. If you have a fever, you should go to the emergency department. I hope you are doing better!
