AF and pregnancy

Postby Cinderella » 28 Dec 2008, 11:09

I have felt quite well for several weeks. I was going to get botox but I cancelled it because I have felt so much better.
Because of my progress we also stopped contraception and I conceived immediately. So I am pregnant now! Image I am just on sixth week, so it is still a long way to go. And of course my fissure has re-opened now and it is causing pain again. Image I am so scared that I cannot even describe, however I am also so happy that I am finally going to have another child.
Does anyone know if I can use Diltiazem now when I am on first trimester?

Congratulations-I know you are excited and have been waiting a long time for this! I hope it all goes well. I don't know about using diltiazem during pregnancy-especially the first trimester. It is a blood pressure medicine that is absorbed into the blood stream so any medicine should be avoided unless clearly needed. I would talk to your doctor.

Congratulations Cindy, you must be so happy! I agree with Lecia - that you should ask a doctor about the diltiazem.
Hope everything goes well.
Take care!

Congratulations Cindy :D
One should think that now when you are pregnant, the doctors would take extra care of you and your fissure to avoid problems....
Have you told your doctor about this?

Congratulations Cinderella !! Image
I do hope your pregnancy goes smoothly and all will be kind to you…
I have read that fissures can settle down during pregnancy because of the increased blood flow to that area and such Image I know with my pregnancy constipation was a big issue  There are certain laxatives/supplements that are safe to use thought out pregnancy if constipation is an issue for you just now ….
You will need to chat about all of this to your doctor, Keep us posted to what he says about the cream !

Today my fissure re-opened totally and I have had horrible pain all day. :( However I am still very happy of the pregnancy, it gives so much to me. I am just wishing that time would go quicklier because I think I am more stressed the more weeks I have in front of me. I have not been able to reach my CRS so I still does not know whether I can use Diltiazem or not. So far I have not used it. Before the pregnancy I felt very good for weeks so I am just wondering if hormonal changes are causing my fissure to act up again? I am also having horrible constipation already even I am using 2 different stool softener. Even I have lots of pain I am happier than I have been for months. :D

Well as long as your are happy you can deal with the pain!
The extra hormones in your body make your tissue swell so it can make things more easy to tear but things should heal quicker since you have more blood flow in the area.
Did you discuss pregnancy with your CRS?
I would try prunes for constipation.

Congrats Cindy! This is wonderful news - about the baby - not the fissure. Keep me updated. I want to try for a baby in a few months if things go well in the BM dept until then.
Sorry for the pain Cindy! Are you using any fiber supplements?
What does your OB doctor say about your fissure? Will they be doing a C-section due to this?

Thanks Kim!
Before I conceived I saw my CRS and he examined me with anuscope and said that there is no sign of fissure that I just have scar tissue. According to him after anal surgeries there are always developing too much scar tissue for two years and that migh also tear and cause similar pain as fissure. But that problem should go away after two years.
Today I have had three BMs and worse pain that I have experienced for months! Tomorrow morning I will call my CRS and probably ask for another LIS or even for dilatation. I am so scared that this pain is just getting worse... I am so depressed. I just cannot understand how can I manage to go to work with this pain. I am just wondering that if it is more safety to have light dilatation than surgery during pregnancy? Then there should not be any infection risks and wound healing issues. What do you think?
Tootie, what is your situation at the moment? You are always gving the best support to others but do not write too much about yourself. Hopefully you are feeling great.
