AF's on the side??

Postby Guest » 15 Jul 2007, 07:44

Hey everyone!
I was diagnosed with an AF at the 6 oclock position. All this week, I've slowly felt a "scrapping" on the left side at the 9-10 o'clock position. This morning I had a BM that produces a very small amount of blood on the toilet paper at the position.
Has anyone else experienced an AF on the sides instead of the top or bottom?
Has another had more then on AF?
Thanks!

A word of warning 1st: AF on the sides cvan indicate a more serious condition, such as Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. If a Dr hasn't checked it out, you should probably see one.
Still there are any number of things which can cause a scrapy feeling and blood, including roids, which can appear at any o'clock. Proctitis too can cause itching, burning, bleeding, etc...

My roid is at 10:30, but my fissure is at 12:00.

Chris, I think my fissure is on the side too. Infact, sometimes I have pain on the 3oclock position and sometimes on the 9. It could maybe be a hem but I've thought I may have two fissures. My doctor & specialist both checked me out though and didn't mention anything peculiar. I only noticed the location of pain in two diff. spots after my appointment though, so I'm going to ask my doc to check me out again when I go on the 31st.
I have a feeling I might have roids too, I don't know.. I just noticed the skin around my anus feels sort of cut up/rough. It's not completely smooth. I do have 2 skin tags so I'm guessing I may have two fissures, especially because I've felt pain in two different locations.
it's best to just ask your doctor to check it out for you..

My AF was on the side too. Maybe like the 8 oclock position. Mine was where I had a hemorrhoid though that was removed.

Lecia...you had a hemorrhoid surgery?? Yikes! I'm glad to see your back!
SSH and BG...thanks for the replies! I just got back from the CRS. Lucky for me too as he was going on a three week vacation tomorrow.
I got the full examination. Unfortunately I reopened my fissure. Fortunately, I don't have a new one. During the examination he pressed right on the spot I thought the new one was coming in and asked me if that was the spot. When I told him yes, he said I'm touching your fissure. WOW!
His explanation is that the nerves in the rectum and anus are not like the nerves on your finger tip. The anal nerves radiate in different ways and can cause feelings of pain not in their localized area. So I guess I feel better, all things considered. He also said that the unpatterned feelings are due to the circulatory nature of the sphincter muscle, making the entire ring connected and pain easily transferrable to another spot.
Of course I would have never believed this explanation if he hadn't done the exam. What do you ladies think?? Maybe one of you can check this with your CRS when you visit next, but it sounded logical to me.

i was actually going to mention this theory when I read your first post. Mine is at the 6 o'clock position, but I can feel the pain anywhere around the area.

Having had nerve damage in the rectal branch of the pudendal nerve I believe his explanation. I can have pain where there doesn't appear to be any injury. I thought for a long time I still had a fissure and went back to the CRS and he said it was healed but I still had pain where the nerve ended.
I had hemorrhoid surgery December of last year that caused the AF. I had a hernia repaired on Friday though.
