Anal fissure

Postby Ella » 14 Mar 2018, 20:20

Hi everyone. Last year late November was hospitalised with acute diverticulitis. Long recovery. Bm's seemed to return to normal. But developed lower back pain, which I told my specialist about, but he didn't think it had anything to do with my bout of diver. One day while walking I felt wet and discovered I was leaking something from back passage. ( sorry for tmi but that's what we are all here for lol.) went to my local doc who said he could see a fissure. Prescribed rectogesic. It hasn't gone and I'm back to see him tomorrow. I'm confused because it's not agonising when I go to loo, it's a bit sore but nothing too bad. I do have burning rectal pain, but again not agonising. It's the back pain that bothers me most. No more leakage either, that only happened once. I'm now worried that it's a fistula. All of this has all happened since the diverticulitis. Can a doctor that's not a gastro specialist tell difference between a fissure and fistula? Any help with this would be much appreciated .

Hello

Yes any doc should be able to since upon inspection they would see the tear in the skin or a sentinel pile. Though i did went to one quack who couldnt diagnose me properly and gave me antibiotics that constipated me. But its something very common .
