Anal fissure

Postby Gillie » 30 May 2018, 11:33

Hi I'm new to this forum, I'm just so desperate and don't know how to manage this dreadful condition / pain that as invaded my life .I have tried both rectogesic and diltizam creams, I have regular baths with Epsom Salts, I'm eating small amounts of food due to the horror that is a Bowel Movement.I am taking Naproxen and Paracetamol for the pain, but it just doesn't help. I'm due to have a sigmoidoscopy next week to make sure there is nothing more sinister going on, other than this horrid Fissure. I then see my specialist 2 weeks later. He has mentioned Botox, but I would prefer surgery to offer a permanent solution to this depilatating condition. I have been suffering for nearly 5 months, I would really welcome any advice with regards to pain management whilst I endure weeks of waiting for the professionals to do something.

Sorry to hear of your pain, and hope you feel better soon. Re pain management: I've found that the anti-convulsant pregabalin (in my case 100 mg morning and 100 mg night, but dosage may vary widely for different people) is to some extent effective in reducing pain levels. It might be worth consulting your GP or CRS about this.

Hi dmcff, thanks for the advice I know that kind of drug is used for Sciatica and it does work, might be worth trying until I can get medical intervention, I really am at my wits end.
