Hi Storre34. I totally understand your concerns being a gay man. I dont think the LIS will prevent you from having sex in the future. It will probably make the experience better since your ass wont be as tight. Tomorrow will put me at the 3 week mark since surgery. I still have pain and bleeding from the incision site during bowel movements at this point. But everyday its less and less. I can tell that my sphincter is not as tight which is a relief, but its too early to tell you how sex will be. I will probably try in another month or two but so far so good. I think since I am not as tight I wont have the problems I was having before. But only time will tell.

Thanks for the reply. Were you prescribed Any type of ointment post-LIS? I know it's a early, but do you feel your fissures are healing on their own now? Keep me posted. Appreciate it :-) I'm not alone in this. This has been devastating

Hey Storre34,

I'm sorry to hear about your fissure! I'm glad you're getting the help you need because nothing is more important than your health. Make sure you look after yourself first!

Having surgery can be a real downer. I've had a few rounds of minor surgery to remove clots and fix a chronic fissure, and it's during the recovery period that I took a real hit to my self confidence. The pain and bleeding at the time convinced me that I would never be able to have anal sex again. And as much as it sucked, here's the main thing: it was all in my head.

I'm still not 100% back to normal (even last week a bout of constipation led to a recurrence of a small fissure) but I've been able to enjoy anal sex many times since my first surgery. The main thing I have taken away from my experience is to really get to understand your body post surgery. Take your time, allow yourself to heal, and once you're back on track take it slowly. Don't launch straight into wild, porn star-esque jackhammering, and make sure your partner respects your boundaries and requests. Anal is only one part of sex too. during the times I've been unable to have anal, there's been plenty my partner and i could still do!

How I have sex now is different to how I used to have sex, prior to my first problems. It doesn't mean its worse... I just take it a little slower and a little more carefully, to make sure both me and my partner get the most out of the experience. And besides, the approach to a healthy colon is also a boon for bottoming! Keep your fluids up, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and get regular exercise (while being mindful of your recovery). All these things will help both bottoming and recovering from surgery.

I hope this helps! Good luck with the surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery :)

CamM

PS: Apart from the usual numbing gels prescribed, I haven't used much else. I do have bio-oil, which I used on a scar on my elbow to keep the skin smooth and flexible. It seems to have reduced the scarring so I have been using it on my fissures too :)

Hey Storre34,

I wasn't prescribed anything but some pain meds. My Fissure issue only showed up with a bowel movement occasionally and every time I had anal sex. The problem stems from a hemmorhoidecotomy I had almost 10 years ago. That spot where I was cut would always tear when trying to have anal sex. Ive been feeling tighter since hat surgery and finally stopped feeling sorry for myself and started going to the doctor regularly. Finally got him to agree to do the LIS. So now im just letting my body heal up.

Hi Storre34. I am doing alot better. I am not sure surgery did anything. Hasn't made things better or worse. It just feels the same as it did before the LIS. Friday will make week 9 since my procedure, and i still have some irritation from the incision site that i hope goes away. Overall I am ok. Ive read stories on here of it taking people 3 months to heal, so maybe i fall into that category. Theres a dip where the incision was made and it seems to be filling out and becoming smoother. so we will see.... i hope this helps.
