Anoscopy can be done gently with new plastic disposable tubes that only one of 4 CRS that I saw had. All others have those metal "thingies" - brrrrrrrrrr... They are all Scrudges - trying to save on every single little thing and don't give a dam about our comfort. Female CRS are DEFINITELY more gentle and caring.
I would avoid anoscopy during acute stage of a fissure, too painful to perform.
BEST OF LUCK

i agree with Fissulyna:

Usually a good doc would avoid anoscopy when the area is inflammed or bleeding. Mine did and i am still in line for him to do one when i go back in for a visit.

I get coccyx pain as well, but only when I get spasms.
When i mentioned it to my surgeons the first one said the pain was probably coming from elsewhere but felt like the coccyx, the second one said it was probably some past damage (childbirth for example) to the coccyx that was irritated by the spasms. So I have no idea :)

I have pain there too. I thought it is because it was broken during childbirth and is acting up because I sit on it most of the time (leaning backward ) to avoid sitting on my anus directly . Oh, who knows - it hurts , thats for sure !!!
