Are some spasms normal?

Postby owmy@ss » 04 Jun 2017, 22:46

Had LIS two days ago - still having some spasms - not very painful at all, but they are there. Sometimes after BM, sometimes just random.

Is that normal? I kinda thought they were supposed to go away entirely.

Thanks!

Yes I think it is normal. I am 3 weeks post surgery and my anus seems to spasm and swell up after every poop. But, Motrin helps a ton! It reduces swellimg and spasms

Also put bags of ice on your butthole, it is very helpful at your stage.

Baths help too.

Yes Ice!!!! Sorry I forgot to say that. Squatting to go to the bathroom helps a lot. Either get a squatty potty, or put some blocks to step on to so u can squat, or if you cant do those things you can sit on the edge of your bathtub (using it like a log in the woods) and poop into a plastic trash bag. Any of these ways will help to reduce spasms and swelling after you poop

Thanks all! I'm entering my 3rd week now - pain is much better, and spasms are fewer and further between. Pooping is still a problem though - even with stool softeners, the ole' brown eye seems to be really tight - it's really hard to squeeze any poop out sometimes. It hurts after, but a short bath helps. The most bothersome thing right now is the almost constant discharge - pus, sometimes a little blood, maybe a tiny bit of poop sometimes? Irritating.
