Bathing

Postby Guest » 11 Jul 2008, 06:29

Hey guys,
So, I've come to visit my parents this week and they've the luxury of a bath (I live in a flat in London which is pretty bleak!), so I figured I'd exploit it. I threw a handful of salt in and just enjoyed a long bath and I found that it really helped the trouble spot dilate to a discernable level. It was very comfortable.
Of those of you who take a sitz bath, how often do you do it and more importantly how do you execute it? Do you use a regular bowl, a shallow filled bath or an actual piece of sitz-bath equipment (I saw one available from Walgreens for $12.99).
Cheers,

It was always easiest for me just to get in a hot tub of water.
As long as your fissure is active, one of your questions is easy -- you should take as many sitz baths or hot baths as possible as they promote blood flow to the fissure site...

meaning of salt - epsom salt is what i take it you are describing.
epsom is great and relaxes the muscles of the body when in a bath.
yes, sitz baths are critical although i didn't do much of it. highly recommended though.

Yeah, I just use the tub. I think some of the sitzbaths designs can cause more pressure to the rectum since they are shaped to fit a toilet bowl.

Epsom salts are great. I do notice a difference when I use them. :bathtub:

I use the Sitz bath a couple of times a day--always after using the toilet. The bath tub might put less pressure on that area, however, I never thought about that.

I find bath tub MUCH more convenient and MUCH more comfortable for all over relaxation and also, bigger body of water holds desired temperature for looong time. I use Epsom salts combined with newly discovered Celtic sea salt with alga and lavender essence (Whole Foods has it) - it relaxes me like nothing else. Your water bill
can go up though , LOL, but who cares @: P. I take baths as needed now, but for healing purposes you should have them as often as you can and for as long as you can , as Kim stated.
Buy some tub toys so you don't get bored LOL !
