I have neve joined a forum before, but here I am and I hope you can help me!

I’m a 34 year old female from Surrey in the UK and I was diagnosed with a fissure in September 2016. I can quite honestly say that the fissure pain was the most horrendous thing I have ever experienced. Relentless throbbing and stabbing pains for hours and hours every day. I didn’t know what to do with myself! And all this happened whilst on holiday with my husband celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. I saw the GP when we got home and was prescribed GTN ointment and movicol. Within 2 weeks I was back to normal! Hurrah!

Over the next year I would have the odd occasional blood on TP, but I’d use the ointment and it would go.

However, in August 2017 it came crack with a vengeance just after my Nan passed away. It was so much worse this time. All I could do was cry and clench. I tried the ointmentbut nothing worked!

Within a month it was so horrendous that I wasn’t able to sleep and as an M.E. Sufferer that was torture too. I saw my GP who confirmed it was back again and referred me to see a CR specialist. They were concerned as my mum had ulcerative colitis and had her bowel removed and they wanted a specialist to check me over.

The wait was over a month on the NHS but luckily for me my mum had private healthcare and was able to book me into see a specialist privately. After 4 weeks and many many painkillers, I saw the specialist who confirmed I had a chronic fissure and really needed surgery to fix it!

4 weeks later I was back and ready to go under. They decided not to perform LIS due to my age and wanting to gave children, so they effectively ‘cleaned’ out all the old inflamed tissues and put some stitches in to encourage it to heal from the bottom up. When I can around they told me that my fissure was so deep they could see my muscle

It felt like it took a long time to recover from the surgery. I did gave granulated scar tissue and that cause some problems, but back in April I was discharged by the surgeon, with a be careful for 6 months and keep to a high fibre diet. I did just that. I’ve been additionally taking 1 fybogel and 1 movicol sachet a day to keep things as soft as possible. I shower after every BM. August will mark 8 Mo the since the surgery and apart from the odd occasional spot of blood on TP, I hadn’t had any issues (bleeding, pain, spasms) in 5 months.

Recently we moved house and had an unexpected large bill which has caused some stress and low and behold 5 dats ago I notice bleeding again. No real spasm but it sometimes can feel a little uncomfortable after a BM for a while.

Looking with a mirror I can see what I think is my fissure (a v small tear just inside the opening).

I’m devastated! Is this blasted thing back again? Do I need to see my GP? It’s only been 5 days and it’s only a small amount of blood but I’m worried. Should I use the GTN again?

I’ve had sporadic episodes of bleeding, but it’s usually only lasted a day or two.

I feel at a loss and don’t know if I’m overreacting or not? We want to start a family and I feel this is holding me back!

Any help / advice would be greatly welcomed and appreciated!

Wow! I know this was 4 years ago but how is it going? Did you heal fully? I hope all is well with you!
