bleeding again!

Postby val » 14 Apr 2008, 10:30

I'm very upset, as 3 months after LIS with hardly any pain and no bleeding, its started again! Is this "normal?" or does it mean its torn open again? Its so disheartening and frustrating! Has anyone else had this?
thanks!

Val, I had the same thing happening. For about six months, I would occasionally see blood an the TP, but not much.
Not a month ago, I had a hard BM and I saw blood on the tip of the stool, and it has been over a year for me.
Just three months out, the area around your fissure site is still compromised and bleeding can still occur, but did you have the normal "fissure pain" or were you just sore around your anus, like you passed a larger than normal stool?
No, don't fret. You and I and many other may always have some bleeding down there, but as time progresses it should be less and less. I am of the belief that once you have a chronic fissure, yes it can return BUT now that you have had the LIS is can heal over and over again without causing you the distress and pain it did before the LIS

I am sorry, Val. I know how disheartening it is to see blood again. I always pray before I stand up that I won't see any blood there. It is easy to think that it had undone all the healing progress you have made but it hasn't.

Was it much and how was the pain? I keep reminding myself that that area is compromised for at least a year. Just maybe up the stool softening products and see if that helps at all.

Thanks Kim, its a relief that it seems kind of a normal occurance! It wasn't as sore as before the LIS , no spasms or anything but I was just so miserable that it was happening again!
So if this happens, it doesnt necessarily mean that its retorn then?
You must have been pretty despondant bleeding after a year! It just seems never-ending doesn't it?
I think I may have got a bit relaxed over the diet- my hubby gave me half a glass of Baileys last night and I didn't refuse! I dont usually drink except at Christmas! Maybe that caused it. We also went out to eat both saturday and sunday so I didn't stick to the diet for the whole weekend, but then its very difficult revolving your whole life around a diet! Especially if eating out, its somehow not so bad refusing everything at home!

We posted at the same time Lecia!
It wasn't too much blood and the pain has been sore rather than really bad, but I haven't had any bleeding since it stopped about 2 weeks after the operation, so it was a huge shock to suddenly see blood and be hurting again! Still, I shouldn't complain, when you're hurting so badly!
How are you today? I hope you're feeling better and stronger each day.

Oh dear Val :( , not you too Image !!!! I was so happy to see you pain free completely and hoped that if I chop this tag off I would be home free
too maybe  . Now the words of that idiotic CRS who told me that fissures are lifetime problem echoes in my mind and I just don't want to believe in it Image . I am sure that Baily and different food were culprit for your bleeding - I always bring Metamucil with me in my purse and always have it before I eat out. I also think that even if the fissure opened a little it will heal much faster again because of the LIS and thanks god for not having those debilitating spasms. I was taking Prilosec for my stomach problems last week and it caused my poop to become much harder :( so it irritated whole area. I had to stop taking it since I noticed that my sphincter started tightening :pale: Image - I definitely have "super-sphincter" Image - my God - it almost regenerated , I swear Image !!!!!!
I am sure , dear Val, that your bleeding will stop very soon - just make sure that your poop is uber-soft for couple of days ! It is so frustrating but we have to believe in complete healing - what else we can do :kissbeart:If you have any Nefidepine cream left over don't hesitate to use it !!! Write us soon again how are you doing XOXOOOOOOOO

Oh Val, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad weekend. I can't tell you what the bleeding means. I'm still new to this post-LIs stuff. Like Fiss, I can tell taht my sphincter is regenerating and I am just hoping that the fissure heals faster than the muscle strengthens. I have been using my nifedipine to keep it loose for the past couple weeks. The nifedipine is actually working for me post-LIS. Perhaps you could go on the diltizem for a week or so until things calm down again.
Keep your chin up!!

Val, if you bled, then most likely it did retear, but there are degrees of retearing, I am sure. Just see if you bleed again tomorrow. How much blood was it, anyway?
The word "retear" sounds dramatic and terrible, but I doubt it's like the fissure was ripped open again. It was probably stretched enough whereby the myriad tiny blood vessels were damaged some.
I think you, like many of us, will grow to accept the occasional bleeding, and not really worry as long as the real fissure pain and spasm don't return!

Val,
Don't worry. I haven't had LIS but I have been bleeding for 3 weeks. Uggggggggg. My poos are not hard at all either . It is the volume of the poo that makes it bleed. Try to get back on your diet. Don't be down, get back to your diet and drinking water. i know it is discouraging but keep you chin up. I am sure that the Baileys did not cause the problem. We all need a shot once in awhile. lol Maybe something stronger than Baileys!
