when you guys talk about using vaseline, do you mean actually coating the anal canal inside with it, or just the outer anus area??

I use a syringe to apply it on the inside as well as on the outside. To me it helps with the burning, but also it's easier to get "things" out.
.....I have kind of stopped using it after I read about the bleaching thing...what else can it do to your skin? Make it thinner? More fragile??
I am always sceptical when it comes to using things...difficult to know what is safe to use down there.

I have never heard that vaseline discolors the skin, nor can I find *any* corroborating information about that on the web.
It will clog your pores, but it is not otherwise harmful to the skin, people have been using it for over a century on their scalp, skin and all over...

I agree with KIM absolutely !!!! It is totally inert substance - I mean - as inert as a bee wax !!! It is not even absorbed by a skin. It just makes a physical barrier between the skin and the outside environment. I used Vaseline on my babies butts for 2 years each (till they become potty trained) and I SPLATTERED it deliberately. The only side effect was that their butts smelled nice and NEVER had a diaper rash !!! Happy to inform that NO discoloration or any pore clogging or ANYTHING else ever occurred. Both have gorgeous butts in every way you look at them !!!

Yes, as I mentioned before, I think it's quite harmless. The only potential damage it could have is slight bleaching of the skin, which my doctor said I *definitely* aquired. I've never used any other lubrication, only vaseline. She noted the before and after impact of vaseline on my bum and we could not find anything else that caused the discolouration. I've spoken to a few other people as well who told me that vaseline can discolour the skin.
Either way, the comfort it provides is more important to me than the discolouration it has caused.
