Book Recommendations

Postby mypoopyhurtsme » 10 Jul 2007, 20:48

Hey, everyone. I just wanted to share the titles of three books I recently read. These books have really enlightened me about nutrition and empowered me to affect positive change in my eating habits.
Before I got my AF, my diet revolved around dairy and meat...and beer. Burgers and pizza were my staples. And I practically never cooked. That has all changed.
After reading these books, I no longer view my situation negatively like, "oh, I have to eat healthy now" ... I view it positively as, "oh, I have to eat normal now."
Anyway, here are the books...
The Macrobiotic Way by Michio Kushi
Nature's Cancer-Fighting Foods by Verne Varona
50 Secrets of the World's Longest Living People by Sally Beare

Nature's Cancer-Fighting Foods by Verne Varona This one sounds like one I would love to read...
50 Secrets of the World's Longest Living People by Sally Beare Why do centenarians almost always say they couldn't have made it without their cigars and liquor? :)

ha.
yeah, the cancer-fighting one is really interesting. it's amazing how much you can reduce your risk for certain diseases simply through good nutrition.

omgosh Lecia, is there really such a book like that?
steve, if you are ready for some macrobiotic desserts, if you can find a copy of 'love, eric' a vegan macrobiotic desserts book for all seasons, it is worth it.
he has a new book with his wife that is more about macro meals than desserts this time around. i am trying to get myself a copy of that one.
i loved the michio kushi book. very strict though but a great way to start getting ideas and motivation to change some things.
i am so happy you are delving in macrobiotics. :-)
continued success!!!!
if you can read in spanish, there is a book called 'macrobioticas para todos' published in argentina and it is amazing. totally same principles except this book isn't immersed with asian cooking ingredients but more regular customed ingredients. it was quite a surprise to see many recipes that don't call for mostly asian stuff. and they are yummy too!

Well, maybe I should take up smoking and drinking...
Actually, I have one beer every night. I gave it up during my trials with the fissure, but one month after the surgery I was back to my nightly brewski..
maybe I need to add the beer to my list of supplements, buttgirl, watcha think?

I think so:D ....Actually, I find that, as long as I am not dehydrated, a beer or wine per night is actually helpful to keeping my dinner poo soft and my behind relaxed.

I really drink it for my heart, so I added it to the supplement list...
This time of year in the deep south, a cold one sure goes down good!

Same here in hot ol' So. Cal. We're not as humid, I don't think, but the temp tops out at 106F.

I notice a new avatar. did someone recently get married?
