Since having an haemorrhoidectomy over two years ago I have struggled most of the time during a BM. It’s been a cycle of getting a fissure every few weeks, including the tearing of healed fissures.
After searching online for the food with the highest fibre content, I came by Chia seeds at 40% fibre content. I rarely eat meat, but so far I am finding these seeds a massive help. The stools exit my body like a rat up a drainpipe.
It is early days at the moment. This being my 3rd day and I am exceptionally pleased. Right or wrong I take three doses spread out throughout the day-morning-afternoon & evening. Each dose is after food.
The instructions on the packet says maximum 15g per day.
Yesterday after breakfast I took 2 heaped teaspoons in a half pint glass of water after letting it stand for 30 minutes to absorb water. I repeated this after the afternoon and evening meals. Today I plan to see what happens with one heaped teaspoon (which I had this morning), then 2 heaped teaspoons after the afternoon & evening meals as yesterday.
I may eventually knock it back to only needing 1 heaped teaspoon per dose every time. It is a bit trial and error, and everyone will have differing requirements. When I resume eating some meat I will resume the 2 heaped teaspoons 3 times per day until I know that the BMs are ok on a meat diet.
If you guys try these seeds (or have tried them previously) please share your feedback here. So far no side effects.
