Digestion question

Postby pinky » 05 Oct 2008, 01:53

It may seem like a dumb question. If we see undigested food particles in the poop while having soft BMs,does it mean its not digesting well and i need to avoid it?i can see small undigested food particles but the BMs are soft.thanks

hi pinky,
i think it depends on the food. like if you were to eat fresh corn, you will always see corn in your poop (if you look for it! but it will be easily visible that you ate corn).
so i think some foods will get digest as much as possible and then pass through.
would you care to share which food particles you are concerned with?
another example, meat may not get completely processed right away but you will not see it in your poop. instead it clogs and sticks and rots inside your insides as time will erode it away.
i think we can all agree that peanuts/nuts are another of those foods and popcorn kernels that will probably come out the same way they came in.

Pinky -
That just means your body did not metabolize it all the way and it is 100% normal. Like what Garreth said, it usually happens more so with certain foods.
I hope your feeling well today!

Pinky -
Don't avoid them - Just think of it as you can tell the transit time from mouth to bottum! :)

I absolutely agree ! Just avoid popcorn kernels since they are scratchy or chew your popcorn for long , loooong time. Don't swallow fish bones or pits of course LOL. All the rest is perfectly normal and fine !
