Failure to heal 10 weeks post LIS, what next?

Postby Sarah14 » 19 Aug 2014, 02:42

Hi guys, as the title says really, I haven't healed and am in a load of pain. I go back to the surgeon in 2 weeks, but I am wondering what he is likely to suggest now. I have two large tags which he didn't remove at the time as he thought it would be too much in one go. Do u think he will cut these off now? Is flap surgery a bigger op? I have a baby and worried about going back into hospital/recovery etc. I hate this!!!!!!!

Sarah :(

It's really hard to say what he'll suggest to you Sarah. He may suggest another LIS, or Botox as a first option.... He may not of cut enough muscle in the first place.
I'm sorry you are still suffering and in pain.... I hope he can sort it for you soon.

I'm sorry you are still going through this. How old is your baby?

Maybe you should get a second opinion as well?

I second Owmybum - a too conservative cut can fail to cure the fissure. But you do need to see your CRS to be sure.

I'm sorry you are going through this. It's hard enough to cope with a new baby, without all this pain and anxiety as well. Please keep us updated as to how you are doing.

:smilyhug:
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thanks guys, I am just tired of it now. My baby is 9 months, I've had the fissure since the birth ( more than likely because of constipation due to high doses of iron tablets as I lost a lot of blood and was severely anaemic). Although I did have one 2 years prior to this, so it's not a brand new problem.

Xx

The skin tags are quite large so I think there is just too much scar tissue there, it's got no give in it. It's just refusing to heal.
