Fissure healed after 5 weeks on GTN

Postby CrackinUp » 07 Mar 2013, 16:12

Just got back from an appointment with my CRS... to my amazement the fissure has healed. He says the skin is still a bit tender so to be careful, but it's closed up!
I had been taking Nitro exactly 5 weeks yesterday.

I am absolutely overjoyed to hear the news CP and hope your nightmare has finally come to an end. I too am feeling sooo much better and its the Nitro for me too. Its only been a few weeks, but its working for me. I still feel a pinch or ping ever now an then, but nothing like the glass up the as nightmare I had a few weeks ago....maybe, just maybe, God is watching out for us and want's all of us to start focusing on more important things....I'm a hard core smoker and I know in my gut, I'm headed for hard times this year...these are things I want to begin focusing on. My state is offering a lot of free screenings this summer and I plan to take advantage of all of them including the breast examines, lung and blood test, a whole slew of medical events this summer I plan on attending.
Again, best wishes my dear friend and thanks for all the encouragement and love you've shown all of us here Image

Image CrackinUp congratulations, one of the best things about healing and one of the most important is how old is the fissure, new fissures tend to heal with creams and care.
So you are lucky.

@delasama I'm going to use the stool softeners for a year... maybe forever!! :D
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm pleased to think I might have helped a few people on here, because when I found the site I was in a total state of worry. This has been my home for the last 5 weeks, my comfort blanket and release from all the anxiety and worry.
I'm reluctant to give up my diet just yet - one to let my fissure properly heal and two because I'm not far of getting to those abdominal muscles now!! I'd been exercising like crazy to try and get to them (plus good diet!) last year and hardly shifted a pound. This little fissure shifted over a stone of weight in under 5 weeks!
Also I am completely blown away at the fact I not used any Nitro today and not had any symptoms at all. I'm starting to wonder if this last week my mind was powerful enough to cause the spasms. I did discuss Levator Ani Syndrome with my CRS and he said I'm tight enough to be close to this condition, and that it is normally treated with anti depressant drugs. For me this goes to show how powerful your mind is and how important it is to stay positive now matter how tough things get.
I'm not ruling out the possibility that the fissure might have closed up yesterday before my visit, but it this has certainly got me thinking hard about staying positive. I am blown away over the difference today and I swear this is down to me realising that it's healed. Knowing this has relaxed me and alleviated all of the symptoms.
A big thanks to everyone who has helped me and I hope you are free of your fissure soon also.

Well done, keep up the regime now. Think you caught the AF in time. Stick to diet and softeners. Image

I still have a bit of irritation / burning down there, so just goes to show even when its healed you can have symptoms. I might even have to try a tiny bit of Nitro today. I didn't do the full 6 weeks, so maybe I should continue anyway...

I was told to continue 8 weeks, even if the fissure healed. Guess it continues to heal, even when it looks healed.
- Fissure developed in Jan '13
- Started rectogesic in Feb '13 and diltiazem Apr '13.
- Got botox Jun '13
- Healed by Okt '13, although I still had some irritation for about a year.
- New fissure April '22, healed June 2022
- New fissure 24. December 2023
