My doctor is now referring me to a surgeon after one year having fissure on and off. My question is do you feel your fissure all day ? I don’t feel it when I go to the bathroom but after and then it stays with me all day that feeling. Is this normal for a fissure ?

Yes that can happen with a chronic fissure. They can become less painful with time. But that doesn't mean they should be ignored and left untreated. What surgery is your doctor suggesting?

I haven’t had my consult with surgeon yet. I think Botox is to be suggested

It depended on the day. Some days were good some were very painful all day. My pain could be just as severe as any earlier time.

Yes, when an anal fissure does not hurt during the bowel movement itself, but hurts after the bowel movement, that is usually due to spasms if the anal fissure is on the anus itself. Your anal sphincter is spasming after bowel movements, which causes pain because it is stretching and contracting the wound. The streching and contracting of the wound irritates the anus itself. I believe that the spasming also prevents adequate blood flow from reaching the sphincter. Blood flow is what helps heal the fissure.

I have had an anal fissure for almost 15 years, and I have the delayed pain due to spasms as well.
