Fistulotomy pain post-surgery

Postby ajl1239 » 23 Jan 2013, 07:07

Hi guys,
I'm now exactly one week past fistulotomy surgery (superficial). Surprisingly, I seem to be having the most pain of the surgery just right now -- nothing too horrible, but jabs of pain of about 4-5 on the 10 scale (i.e. random jabs of pain) and then some dull pain for a minute or so from time to time. I don't have a fever. Do you guys think this is normal to have such pain one week after the fistulotomy? I'm nervous because in earlier days I really had zero pain.
Thanks!

Hi
I had fistulotomy about a month ago and the first 2 1/2 weeks were very painful. I had pain with walking, sitting or doing anything. I was on pain meds around the clock for the first 7 days, then I slowly decreased the pain meds. At one point, I went to see the surgeon because the pain was so bad. They switched my pain meds and took out a couple stitches. My surgeon told me that the pain peaks around the 10-14 day mark and then slowly decreases. I seemed to follow that pattern, although I retore about 3 days ago and paying for it.
It is one painful surgery
