Postby kkmark » 03 Jul 2013, 14:41

Hi Guys
I am so happy to find this website. I have scheduled my fistulotomy surgery Jul 17. I am so tensed and worried abt the after affects.Reading some of the forums i feel much better.
I had Peri-anal abscess in 2008 and then the doctors suggested to have this surgery done but i dreaded so much n have been delaying for ages. We r planning to get pregnant so want this out of the way as i heard things when your'e pregnant things get worse with fistula and hemorrhoids.
All these years had pain killers and sitz bath and was bearing with the pain. Since it got worse recently wanted to get it done. Please advice me how to cope up with the pre-op and post-op
would luv all the help and encouragement i can get
Thanks
kathy

Hi Kathy,
I don't know how you have managed to cope with the issue for so long! Do you know what type of Fistula you have and did you ever get any recurrences of the original abscess?
Has the situation been checked recently by your CRS (Colon & Rectal specialist) and if so,how? It could be things have changed since the original diagnosis back in 2008??
There's a few of us here that have suffered the joys of a Fistula!, so ask away but would be good to have a bit more background info first......Good news is, most fistulae are generally treatable and recovery is very good. :)
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

Hi guys
Sorry was on vacation so didn't check your messages.
richibeno - Thank you so much for the information. Waht kind of food do suggest i will try to drink loads of water. any suggestions on food :D
Ever the Optimist - Thank you i know i am not sure how i coped up with the pain. I am not sure abt what kind of fistula but the abcess never came back all these yrs. But after my BM i always used to have pus. I did visit my CRS last month and he suggested to get the surgery done. I don't think its bad but as i was delaying and planning to get pregnant want to get it done before that :)
I would luv all the encouragement and help i can get as i am so scared and worried after postop. I want to know what foods i can eat n drink.
Thank you
Kathy
