Had fistulotomy yesterday morning,Still in pain

Postby Sarahp2222 » 20 Aug 2013, 20:15

Ok I had my first surgery, fistula surgery, around 11am yesterday morning,I took my 1st sitz bath since, and it really hurt!! Is it normal for it to be in pain STILL? Im scared to take these baths but doctor and his nurse said I have to and its like, gosh really it freaking hurts on my buttcheck and anal area where they cut open.Im taking 2 norco's every 5 hours or so,I usually take 1 but been taking 2 because the pain is so intense!! How long is the recovery time for this surgery?

Can you take a normal bath? I was in agony after my first sitz bath (for a regular fissure). Lying down and soaking is more comfortable and did help me sometimes (not always).
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.

That sounds truly awful - I'm so sorry.
Is it the water that's painful? Or the sitting? or both? Could the water be too warm?
Could you use a shower head to get water to the area without having to sit?
Can you lie down in the bath rather than sit?
I'm just throwing some ideas out, maybe they are no help at all, but maybe somebody will come up with something useful to say.

its really the sitting in the bahttub,I am overweight so getting in and out alone is hard, but having surgery a couple days ago it just seems worse.yeah i tried that today with the shower head because i had to wash my hair anyways but ive been putting cream on and it still hurts.
