Re: "Healed" fissure sensations

I saw the Chronic Pain Specialist on Monday and she basically stated that my muscles were so tight that they are causing me to have minor lesions (fissures) around the anus when I have a BM. I cried because she described exactly what I have been telling doctors for the past few months. She stated that when things were tight, it causes little fissures that may be invisible to the eye. She suggested that I get botox on the muscles to help relax them....

I've been to so many doctors and none have stated this, I just don't understand just because they don't see an active fissure does not mean that I don't need help! I am feeling a little hopeful :)

Hi A,
That's great that you now know what's happening. I had a feeling you have the same problem as me... Now you can move forwards and get treatment! Did she mention LIS? Definitely go for the Botox, it will loosen the muscle. Do you have a date to have it done? Xxxx

I forgot to ask if "tight muscles" indicate a tight sphincter/ high pressure tone... does anyone know?

I am am glad too... I was starting to loose my mind because I knew that I had pain but didn't know what was causing it since doctors weren't able to detect an active fissure since the initial one healed. Just waiting for the next couple of weeks to go by fast because I can't take this burning pain any longer... I hate mornings because I have to poop!

Re: "Healed" fissure sensations

I just finished reading my papers from my last appointment; the doctor basically thinks that "my pain is coming from spasms in the muscles of the abdominal wall and the pelvic floor"; which they refer to it as Myofascial pain. "Pain is typically worse with physical activity, intercourse or bowel movements". Mine is only during BM....

How does someone with a fissure end up with such a complicated diagnosis/ treatment for something so simple as a fissure?

Does anyone else continue to be in pain months after being declared healed? Sitting burning pain? Pain with bm? Tender to the touch (internally)?
