Sb2,

After my fissure was declared healed, I still remained in pain so the doctor referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy. The therapist touched my muscles vaginally and said that they were tight so that it what is causing me pain (during and after bm; stinging, hot burning sensations). My pain increases during bm... Then decreases afterwards but it lingers all day long.

I've tried physical therapy but it has not relaxed my muscles now had Botox injected on the pelvic floor... Takes about a week to get its full effect, so I'll see if this helps.

My doctor also said that my muscles are so tight that they could be causing small little cuts around the anus which are not detected on visual examination.

Good luck Alyssa. I hope the botox does the trick.

Alyssa, I just wanted to add that in the pelvic floor, botox can start to work in a week but is usually not maximal for about 3, especially the first time (for some reason the muscles here are slower to respond than in other areas, like the face). This has consistently been my experience as well as what my Doctors have told me. I just didn't want you to be disappointed if it should take longer...

Msimon,

Thanks for that information... I'll be patient with it! I was expecting the "experience" to be worse than it was; it was a fast procedure, a little sore and bruised but no biggie. Counting down the days for it to take effect...
