Helen,
I've had loads of surgeries- 2 within 6 months this year and I'm having another 2 soon! GA is really nothing to be worried about, in fact its the easiest thing about the op!
I really and truly dont think incontinence would be an issue. Here on the forum, most of us are kinda "worst case scenarios" because 95% of people just heal from LIS, no problem. We are the exception, and NONE of us have become incontinent, so dont let that cloud your judgement.
It is a pain, sticking to the diet, using the creams etc, but its something you'll have to stick to, unfortunately, as you have found!!
I hope you can heal with just the cream - it is possible - but if not and you do decide to have surgery, we'll be here to help you!

HAHA, 'are you sure you're not forty'. I love to think that I have wisdom beyond my years but I'm sure I don't.

Helen I can sense you are wise soul !!
Botox isn’t too common in the UK, I had asked about Botox previously and the consultant looked at me if I had 2 heads, Then I saw someone different at the same hospital and I got Botox Image
I think the NHS don’t really want to entertain botox as it is costly and more studies are needed for its effectiveness for treating anal fissure !
I was sent to a specialist too later to find out the specialist was a general surgeon not a CRS, I would have preferred to see a proper bum doctor – No disrespect to my general surgeon !! He told me not to worry too …Erm Ok Doc !!
I will agree with the G/A and like Lecia I thought it was quite nice Image
I Have had 3 G/A - 2 in my younger days and they were a breeze, I was worried this time round as I was very nervous but again it really is amazing how quick it is all over before you know it !
I use to be scared of LIS too but not anymore and I did ask for the LIS before the botox
I think one gets to the point where it doesn’t seem that scary anymore and more of a certain fix for A/F !

lecia - i can't believe your friend would be so insensitive, assuming she knows about your problems! what a rude email! it's true though, people make fun of butt problems. that's definitely a big factor in why i haven't told many people, no one really takes it seriously. it sucks that we have to feel ashamed or embarassed of something we have no control over. :(

Yeah - just unbelievable Image Even if you did not have a butt problem how funny can be a picture of a girl in a pool of blood Image Image - she is a psycho Image if you ask me - or maybe just misses a half of her brain LOL Image .
Helen, try to put some Vaseline after BM to make physical barrier between any discharge and your skin. I was advised to do that by my first CRS after my LIS and it helped 100%. Hope it works for you too !

Hi Helen! my troubles sound very similar to yours, I have suffered from this from a young age (Bleeding sometimes with BM), since i can remember. I also dont have much pain, just a shap pain durning BM, no spasms. I do however bleed alot, well sometimes alot (last night I thought it wouldnt stop) sometimes its just light spotting. It is something I get from time to time, it can last a few days or a few months. I am sure it goes away inbetween and occurs in different places. Im not sure if it is acute or chronic. I also worry that it might be something more serious as the bleeding bothers me more than the pain, although sometimes passing a stool can be very painful. Imnot sure what advice i can give that you dont know already, it seems like you have had more help from proffesionals than me. I just went to the GP twice and they sent me away with hemmeroid cream, not so helpful. I do use wheatgrass cream which I think helps with healing. Oh and I also think my fissures were caused my being OCD with toilet hygene, sorry to be praphic but wiping to hard/much. I wish I had one of those Japanese toilets that wash your bum so you dont need loo roll!
where in the UK are you from?
