Help!

Postby msimon » 07 Feb 2015, 16:49

Has anyone had one of these post op? My CRS didn't use one for my LIS but did for my surgery to clear up my infection. I have no idea why. I cannot BM today and I think it's due to this thing causing a plug. Normally I have to pass very loose and narrow stools, otherwise I impact. Sadly the LIS did not remedy this for me as I also have pelvic floor dysfunction.

Anyway, I am wondering when I can expect it to dissolve and be out of my way. :thankyou:

All I can suggest is soaking in a Sitz Bath to let it come out as you relax. Sound gross to do thst, but this is what an RN told me to do when I have any sort of pooping problems, and it works.

I've not heard of one of those msimon. How scary for you!
It's perfectly normal not to have a bm after surgery.... I normally don't. Don't panic....... Maybe call your crs's secretary and get her to ask him what you should do.

Huge hug sweetie

I've been tweaking my supplements a lot this month, and seeing a Naturopath a few times. Got my stool tested even. Yeah, fancy pants me! All in an attempt to get me to go everyday without a big struggle and keep things soft. I really would prefer to go all natural, but still have to use MOM on occasion plus regular stool softener sometimes. I also can't say enough good things about avocados and pears.

The good news is I'm going, the bad news is it can be way too soft. Well frankly better too soft then hard for the time being.

Anyhoo...my dear MSimon...my diligent research seems to show that prune juice at bedtime and before breakfast has for me been the most beneficial. It helps with softness, but especially with the peristaltsis wave motion.

Give it a shot?

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advise. I finally did go some today and there was no sign of a sponge. Must have gotten absorbed, along with a lot of water as it was rather firm for me. I have never had this much pain in my life. Had to strain it out through ripping pain and blood. To top it off I am still blocked up! I am so upset right now as this last surgery I had was to fix a problem (recurring infection) caused by the LIS and the damn LIS never helped with the BM spasms afterall anyway. So I feel like I am now mutilated all for not! What on earth do I do now?
