I have had an anal fissure for 3 months. Wait I had one in September and then i found out in October i had another one!!! The hydro cream stuff they prescribed worked a bit the first time then when i got my second one it didn't work. Then I decided to do it the natural way with sitz bath and no cream. For two weeks that worked, then all of a sudden it flared up again. This past Wednesday I was in the worst pain I have been in awhile and since then its constantly itchy and I m afraid to go to the bathroom. I m so worried that these two anal fissures are a symptom of something else. I m in constant contact with my doctor and I m tired of having to deal with this. I have so much going on and its disrupting my life. I m annoyed to the point where i cry all the time. I feel like it will never heal. My only option is the nitroglycerin cream she called in as a last minute effort because I cant see any solution. She has called a specialist and he saids use the nitroglycerin and both of them still dont think this is a long term problem. Can someone define that for me because for me 3 months of this is a long time. I feel terrible, this is affecting my attitude and I m so negative because it seems to go away and come back. I m at the end of my rope I dont know what to do.....I ve tried everything I can think of I've tried everything I ve looked up I cant afford surgery....I m a tiny woman my doctor was scared to give me the nitroglycerin because of side effects and i m scared of that too.She said she called in a gentler one that the specialist told her about ...I dont know I hope this works can anyone tell me what side effects come with taking that cream and if it works fast?

I know that it's easy to say and not so easy to do, but it will be much better to be as calm as you can, read up on what others do for anal fissures, DON'T put off going to the bathroom as that will just make it worse in the long run.
Nitro can give you headaches, so just go very slow with it at first, and remember to wash your hands after using it as just touching the nitro can give headaches.
Not sure how long it takes to work, but you need to give it time.

I think the nitro is good -- basically it relaxes the muscles so that you don't spasm and feel less tight. When I take the nitro I feel like I am less tense in the rectal area and don't feel thinks clenching up. My headaches aren't that bad at all...noticeable, but not horrible. Please try the nitro...

I've had one or 2 for 3 years now. I'm to scared to get a colonoscopy because I'm scared to be diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Thing is I have no other symptoms apart from this damn fissure I got 3 years ago. Just won't heal
