I've had what I believe to be an anal fissure for over a year. It comes and goes. It's mostly always there, but I go thru periods of it being worse and better. At one time I was holding in BM's so I only had to go every other day, this at least gave me one day without pain.

Sometimes there is no blood, sometimes very little, sometimes quite a bit.

Today I decided to take a picture of the toilet paper because it shows the amount of blood I wiped off my backside as well as what I assume are blood clots.

There are two pics, one overall and one closeup of clots that were much wetter when they first came out. In the picture it looks like they are already starting to dried and harden up. You can also see the appearance of clots at the top of the picture.

Normally I don't have this much blood and I have never seen this many of those clots. Today was a bit different because I had a slightly painful BM this morning and then went back 4 hours later for a much softer almost diarrhea like BM, which is what you see me wiping in the pictures.

Is this normal for a fissure?

You poor thing, it looks very very painful. When I first had my fissure, my TP looked like that without the clots and its enough to make the colour drain from your face! Have you ever seen a consultant or a doctor? have you tried any treatments?

I haven't seen anyone or had any procedures.

I have just committed to pooping every day. I'm hoping the lack of strain from holding it in (which never caused any pain in itself, but caused hardened stool) and starting to use coconut oil will help get rid of it.

But those clot looking things kind of scared me. I've seen small ones like that before, but not so many. Like I said, it might just be because of the two poops in a row.

Today there was this very think slimy fluid mixed with a little bit of blood and a small clot like pictured above that I found on the washcloth after wiping back there. It wasn't there when I fist got in the shower because I rinsed back there with the water and my hand. So I assume it was in the fissure and came out when I put some pressure on it with the washcloth. The odd thing is that it was kinda hard to clean off the washcloth, it was so thick and slimy that even under the water with my finger trying to wipe it away it still stayed slippery and took some time to clean away. It was pretty odd.

could this be a sinus? or some form of cyst that has popped? if you get lots of mucus maybe you should get checked for something like ulcerative colitus

I don't think it came from far up. It came from near the sphincter. Ive also noticed little bits of this mucus mixed with either feces or blood after sitting on something hard. It's like it's building up inside of the fissure, if that's what it is. All the other symptoms make me think it's a fissure.

I was hoping someone else had experiences like mine.

You don't say if you've seen a doctor. If you have not, I think you should. Blood in stool can be nothing, or it can be serious. Best to get it checked out. Take Fissurefrustration's advice!

No, I haven't seen a doctor. Well, I see an oncologist every 6 weeks, but the last thing I need is someone looking at my butt.

I wonder, do urologists do this type of work? I have a urologist that I went to last year for the testicular cancer.

There are sphincters in your urinary system however they aren't the same as your sphincter muscle that may be causing the problem. Mucus and blood in stools is something you really need to be discussing with a colorectal specialist for a scope. I know its not what you want to hear but as a nurse it's what I would suggest. If you really don't want that I'd suggest discussing with your oncologist in the first instance who could guide you. It's hard to comment as you may be on specific meds for oncology that may have side effects etc but I would really get it checked out. Whatever you decide to do my thoughts are with you all of us are on this forum for a reason and we are all very close. If you need any support or encouragement please just ask - I hope someone on here can relate and provide further insight to whats going on x

So I couldn't go to my urologist for this? It's just that it would be so much easier than finding yet another doctor.

I was hoping that they would say it's just a fissure and give me topical medicine or something. I have heart failure as well which has complicated everything.
