Just need some support

Postby Buttski » 08 Dec 2011, 09:44

Hi guys!Im here because of AF problems...I have had it since April,on and off, mostly on.I was pain free for about 1 month and it has come back again.Im now using Nitroglycerin ointment for about 7 days now.I was feeling slight bit better but the intense pain has come back as of yesterday.I feel desperate and very depressed.I just cry now all the time.Im at a loss as to what more I can do to help my self and Im feeling I just need to be around people who truly understand my pain and what Im going threw. This has been hell!!A total nightmare. It just wont go away!I have changed my diet drastically and it doesnt seem to make a slight difference in how Im feeling. My BM are really soft and have been for sometime,I never really suffered from constipation or diarrhea so I dont understand why this wont heal!I have so much pain and no one, even my doc seems to take it seriously or understand this excruciating pain.I do the sitz bath every night and drink tons of water threw out the day,I also use flax oil in my diet to help with BM's.I feel like this is going to be my life forever....I cant take this pain anymore,I dont know what to do.Iam happy though, that I found this forum and maybe I will feel better, emotionally.

I sympathise - I feel the same as you. I wish I could offer some advise but you're doing all I am doing, except for taking Vit C, magnesium and acidophilus, and I'm not sure they're doing an awful lot. You try anything if you think it will help! Image

Are you being treated by a GP or CRS?
If you are being treated by your GP, I can appreciate your frustration! If you have not seen a CRS, make an appointment to see one; a CRS will be better able to treat your condition/symptoms and will understand just how much pain you are in.
If your issues have returned after a period of healing, you may have a chronic fissure. Again, a CRS will be able to make that determination. Like yourself, I had on and off issues for a long time, but eventually, I had an episode that would not resolve.
I know it's hard, but I think a positive attitude plays a big part in dealing with AF. Know that there are options and things can and will get better if teated correctly.
I hope you feel better soon!

I can also sympathise, you should ask your GP for some Anti-depressants, I'm taking them regular and they help with the emotional side of having a fissure.

Thanks you all for your understanding and kind responses.
I have been seeing my GP about this...I'm sorry for my ignorance but what is a CRS,I'm assuming its a specialist? If so,I would need a referral from my GP.I'm in Canada and believe thats how I would be able to see one.
I do try to keep positive but sometimes its so hard when the pain is so bad,I cant sit, walk or even stand. The pain, recently, with this recent episode is really deep inside my anal area,I feel a lot of pressure and sharp pains and muscle spasms, along with the burning razor like feeling around the outside.I saw a thread here suggesting to try Robax, and I do find it has helped with the pressure and pain inside. Thanks again for the ideas.Im going to browse this forum a bit more tonight.

Don't be sorry; a CRS is a colon rectal specialist.
I am fortunate to have a PPO, so I was able to self-refer. It sounds like you are in agony, so you need to get your GP to give you a referral ASAP! Make sure your GP hears you loud and clear; kick and scream if you have to!
If possible, try doing 3 sitz baths a day, or at very least, at the onset of the spasms or immediately after BM. I don't know if you have tried sitting on a heating pad, but I always had some relief from using one. Also, when you see a CRS or your GP, ask about Valium for spasm relief. I am not a big fan of pills, but the Valium would lessen the severity/length of the spasms and help me get some sleep at night.

Buttski you have just described exactly what I feel at the moment, and it seems to be getting worse rather than better. I am going to go back to my doctor on Monday and see about a referral. I just can't go on like this.
I hope you have a better day today and get a referral as soon as possible.

hi buttski, i'm sorry that u r feeling so bad. this is so familiar, just like my first week when i got my fissure, it was living hell. I couldn't sit/stand/walk without pain. I was crying everyday and my hubby has no idea exactly what kind of hell i'm going through.
i think what u nd to do now is to see a CRS, a specialist who knows about anal problems. Pls stop seeing all GPs, as it's a total waste of time and money, not to mention it prolongs ur pain.
Since u have already been doing all the right things and yet u r so suffering, u probably is a good candidate for LIS.
Start reading up on LIS here, i think ur CRS will suggest LIS to you too.
Take care, and vent here if u need! Meanwhile, take magnesium oxide/citrate if u can, they relax spasms and sitz bath 15mins twice a day or after BMs.

Hi guys.I did a bit of browsing here on LIS,Im really starting to feel I need this.I was putting it off, thinking I would try everything first but I dont think I can take anymore of this pain, its just been too long and its really interfering with my life.Im terrified of it!It does sound like its worth it though....Im just so scared.
Has anyone heard of a possible food allergies causing fissures to not heal?My pharmacist suggested this possibilty but to be honest,Im really tired of trying this and that and none of it is working.
I can try the magnesium oxide/citrate if I can afford it.I have spent lots of money on meds already.Do you find it helps you?
