I had LIS surgery 3 months ago. I just went to my surgeon and I am still not quite healed. Has anyone else taken longer than 3 months to heal. Overall I feel pretty good, but with a larger BM I am quite sore. I read that LIS usually is 100% effective and am very discouraged I haven't healed by now. Any input would be appreciated.

Marie - perhaps you should keep things really soft until you are fully healed - are you doing this?

Trying, stool softener daily, lots of water, metamucil and miralax. I see my surgeon again in 4 weeks, hoping it finally heals.

Make sure not to over use the Metamucil. It can bulk up the stool and may irritate the canal if too bulky.

Hi my fissure took a while to heal by 3 months I was 95% healed but that last bit took another 3 months. The spasms had gone at about the 3 month mark so I was willing to be patient as although the burning and stinging wasn't pleasant it was nothing compared to the spasms.
Everyone is different I have crohns and IBS and had a major flare ten days after my LIS. Some surgeons would recommend another LIS if your not healed by 3 months. Others will advise more patience.
I guess it's up to you n your doctor but there is always hope
