Living with an anal fissure

Postby dave212 » 12 Oct 2014, 19:04

Hi, I'm dave I'm 22 and Im pretty sure I have had an anal fissure for about 4 years now, I remember looking it up back when I first noticed and it seemed like I had the same symptoms. But then I kind of forgot about it although when I go to take a dump It sometimes stings and theres the tiniest amount of blood when I wipe and sometimes I notice it stinging for a while after.

The thing is it doesn't really bother me that much and I pretty much forget its even there most the time. I think its because I am pretty small but eat a lot so my tiny tight ass has to deal with it, which opens it up again.

I was just wondering if theres any cream or anything I can get for it? I just read something about eating more fibre so it goes easier on the fissure.

Cheers for any reply

Hi Dave,
I don't know if you have a fissure, because with so little pain, it could just be a little cut that opens up now and again.
One sign of a fissure is a "sentinel pile" which is a little skin tag right at the end of the cut. If you haven't got one, that is good. If you have, chances are higher you may have a fissure. However, most of us with fissures have bad pain with bowel movements, and awful spasming pain for hours afterwards. Doesn't sound like you have that - lucky you!

If you are concerned, or want to try medication, go and see a doctor, preferable a colorectal specialist. Yes, there are creams, and they are meant to relax your internal anal sphincter.

As for fibre, that will increase the size of your stools, so that may not be what you want. Try to eat things that will keep your stools soft and manageable. Obviously you do need some dietary fibre, but taking fibre supplements could be the wrong thing for you. Drink lots of water.

Good luck!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Hi Dave, Sorry it's so painful.
I've been dealing with it for years as well, though thought it was a hemorrhoid because I have 2 small ones. However, I would recommend that you go see a doctor and get diagnosed.
From there, you can try various ointments.
I've found coconut oil and Super Salve to be helpful.
But then again, you need to see the doctor to make sure it's what you have. Best wishes!
