My experience

Postby yssa » 30 Nov 2011, 02:52

Hi everyone!
I'm a 31/f doctor, but being a doctor has not helped me with my chronic anal fissure problem. I got it as a post surgery complication after my hemorrhoidectomy. It is really frustrating because in my practice I get to manage a lot of cancer patients, some of them rectal cancers. So i hope you understand why sometimes I get too paranoid because of this pain I'm experiencing. I've been to my colorectal surgeon 2 months ago and he said that it's JUST! anal fissure. He prescribed me with Nitroglycerine ointment but unfortunately there's is none available here in the philippines! and even if you go to the compounding pharmacy here even in the most modern hospital here they don't even know what it is!!!! Up to now all i do is get a warm sitz bath. What's more worse now is after having my BM I don't only experience the tearing pain during but also a stinging sensation in my rectum. I also feel something crawling inside initially protruding into my anus then crawls up after the BM and i'm really hoping that its only an anal papillae, nothing more.

Its very nice to know that there are others who also experience what I am going through.
Thank you for this support group

Sorry to say welcome to the forum, but we all know exactly how you feel. At times it is so debilitating!!! I know what you mean about being paranoid, my mother died from colon cancer and sometimes I get so freaked out and think there is something worse going on!! I have had 2 colonoscopies and all clear, I am on a q 5 yr schedule for that. JUST and AF??? yeah tell him to try having one!!! With you being a Dr. can't you use your pull and find a good CRS??? I would sure give it a shot!!! Welcome to the forum, there are a lot of great stories about healing, surgery, diet on here. Believe me, this place has really saved me. I actually have an appt tomorrow with CRS, so I can get on the other side of this in January...Good luck and hope you feel better soon!!

hi yssa, i'm sorry that u r suffering. U know what? I ALWAYS wonder if doctors will have piles/anal fissures, since probably they care for their health more than the whole lot of us here.. haha, well i guess, we are all humans equally!
I stay in Singapore, and i do have the GTN cream u are talking about. I have a fissure for 7 months and was almost healed for the past 3 months. No pain during or after BM, but i later developed prolapsed internal piles along the way, which gives me mild sting/pain sometimes. The GTN cream has indeed helped me some, i bought another tube cos i thought i'll be finishing my old one, but i did not have to.
Anyway, if u are willing to pay a bit for the postage, i could send the cream to you. Let me know if you are keen!
