Between the nitro and the Diltiazem, I hear the Diltiazem is actually more effective.

Hello all,

I am new to this group, and this is my first post. I've had a full year of off-and-on fissure problems, and more conservative treatments seem to have failed. I am not experiencing current problems because I am using miralax, but every time I try to taper off it, I experience reinjury. So now surgery seems likely...

Lisa (Lmdouce), I really appreciate this thread. I identify with your situation more than anyones else's I have read. I, too, am quite active and an outdoorsman. Outdoor activities are THE central of my life, recreationally and occupationally. If I lose my ability to run around outside, go on adventures, get lost, and play, then I am losing--I suppose not everything--but most of my identity. I would be completely lost.

How have you been doing post-op? I hope you are well and active.

Take care!

Hi there, I was like you. I actually healed, but every time I went out of the way from my strict diet, my fissure started to act up. Las December I re-teared and I could heal it again thanks to Miralax. But by then I was really tired of the cicle. So I went for the LIS and had it 3 days ago. It was a piece of cake. I haven't had any kind of pain since day 1, I haven't needed any pain killer until today. And I have been doing my normal activities like if I didn't have a surgery 3 days ago. My CRS told me I can resume my sport activities on Monday( I play padel twice a week). And in 3 weeks I can again start riding my bicycle, that I had to abandon since I got my fissure more than one year ago. Because It was very painful to do it. For me Lis was the best desition I could have ever made. I wish I would have done it before.
