Advancement flap surgery...

Postby owmybum » 14 Feb 2014, 10:27

Hi all...

I have received my pressure test results in the post ( wow... Already!!) and they confirm that I still have normal anal resting pressures. That means I won't be given lis as an option.... It will be advancement flap surgery.
I am obviously worried that it may make things even worse..... But I feel I have no option than to go ahead with this surgery as I simply can't go on living like this... 3 years is enough.

I would really appreciate any advice or experiences from others...........

Owmybum what was your resting pressure (if they told you). I'm sorry I can't help as I haven't had that surgery. I have had lis 3 weeks ago but fissure is still very much there. What is the expected recovery for you? I hope this brings healing to your bum. You had already tried botox right? :thawack:

Hopefulbutt....... I don't know the actual pressure readings, it just said it was within the normal range.
... And yes, I've had Botox.... I believe it made things worse for me to be honest!

Richi.... Yes, I believe it can take a good couple of years to fully, fully heal. I am sorry to hear you still get sore and achy though. Do you cope with it ok??
I speak to mr w on Friday.

Hi omb
Yes I'm not to bad can cope OK 'sudocream ect '
When I had my last op the fistulotomy the doc cut through the muscle to cut out the fistula so there is a gap in the muscle there 'dont know if it will close any more ''may do Mr w said when I sore him all healed OK bit of a gap which does not close ,gets a bit of debris trapped now ad then.
He new the surgeon who done my ops and said was a good one 'i was unlucky 'botox led to an abscess which led to a fistula'if I could do it again I would never choose botox would have had lis'
Which is strangely what I have had with the cut in the muscle

Hi OMB!

I am glad there is some plan in front of you now! Finally there might be some finish of this marathon.
I just forgot, do you experience spasms also after BM, or only pain during?

Igrik.... I have relatively pain free bms..... Just hurt for hours after.... Which oddly enough is indicative of a high anal resting pressure!!
Work that one out!
