AF healed?

Postby Worrymaster » 26 May 2014, 08:31

I had my AF 4.5 weeks ago, I went to the gp after 2 weeks and she said it had healed, due to my anxious state I chose not to believe her! Things got better and I continued to follow a diet that worked for me. Now, 2.5 weeks later I have pain where the AF was, I'm really worried that it's recurred. Is it normal to have pain? There's no blood and I haven't had to strain.

Sorry you are having pain again. Is it the same pain as you had for the AF? I would go see a CRS as they have the expertise is this area. The sooner you find out exactly what is going on the better.

It's not quite the same pain, no pain during bm, just a sore pain rather than the stinging pain of before. The more I read on this forum the more convinced I am that it's unlikely to have healed in less than 5 weeks.

Hi Worrymaster,
When my fissure would re-tear, I would feel the tearing pain durning the BM and there would be blood on the tissue paper and I could often see a line of blood on the stool. People are different and everyone does not react the same to a fissure tear. There can be other issues that can cause pain. From what you are posting, it does not appear that you have re-torn your fissure. A fissure can heal is less than 5 weeks. If you any concerns, I agree with Apes that you should make an appointment with a CRS.

Thanks Roidsfizzman, that really helps, you're probably right, I've made an appt to see my gp in a few days just to be sure.

Hi Worrymaster,
Acute fissures can heal really quickly! So try not to get too concerned at this stage. Unfortunately a lot of us here developed chronic ones but this isn't always the case - others heal within a few days.
If you have minimal pain, it's highly unlikely you've retorn but it would be good to get things checked just to rule other issues out, like internal hems etc.
Just keep eating fissure-friendly foods and drinking lots of water and make sure your stools are soft and expel easily without any straining and fingers crossed, you'll be fine :)

Thank you! You've put my mind at rest, I had never thought about the different severities before, thanks again, it's nice to know there's others who understand :-)
