Hi Rachel, so happy for you. I am 25 days post LIS and I am starting to feel much better. I still have days with some mild pain and irritation, but nothing like before surgery and no incontinence. Best of luck to you.

Hey Rachel, you will not be sorry you had surgery, I had mine 3 weeks ago tomorrow, there have been no incontinence issues at all, was having spasm pains til about 4 days ago. I heve taken a sitx bath after every bm since surgery, and found they are soothing, and from what the nurses told me hospital, it really helps a lot with healing, taking a stool softener each day, and a glass of prune juice each morning, I don't think I will be 100% for a while, but do believe it will come. So nice to be healing after 6 months of pain, and discomfort.

I had LIS and skin tag removal done 3 days ago, prior to that the pain was excruciating to the point I couldn't even stand or sit that I was just lying down on my side, even then it was still painful. Was suffering like this for 6 months.
Since the day after the surgery my pain went away completely (I must have had high resting pressure, like u do, and it seems LIS is the answer to relieve this!). It doesn't even hurt to have a BM. I already feel like I am back to my old self, but still going to have a few more days off from work.
I was so scared before having this surgery, but it is the best decision I've made. You will be relieved once it's over!

Hi had enough,
That sounds promising.... It sounds like the recovery from surgery for you has been great. I just can't take this pain anymore. The last few days, I've had the awful spasms and pain again...... Hurry up appointment! How long have you had off work in total? X

Hi Rachael,

:fairy:
Wow! You finally got an explanation and as scary as it all feels, this is hopefully your way of putting an end to the pain and mental anguish all of this has been causing you for such a long time.
There are so many "happy endings" with LIS - It has such a high success rate and you have been through so much, it's time to live your life again!
There are side effects with pretty much any surgery and 1% is very low and it's rare to hear of horrendous stories.
Just maintain that inner strength and focus on the major positives and the reassuring follow-ups you can find on this site!! This is your way out of the constant pain, the constant stress of it all - truly believe that!
I would have no hesitation to head straight for LIS if I ever re-tear or go through this all again.....honestly, as others say, the low risk of incontinence means nothing to me compared to the agonising & ongoing pain & mental torture of an anal fissure! ...and I'm sure it won't come to that for you anyway....
Take time out to think and always go with what feels right & the guidance of your CRS & you will know what you need to do.
I'm so excited and happy for you - it's like a golden ticket to give you back your quality of life again!
It goes without saying really but I will always be here to follow your journey all the way through to your happy ending xxx
