Hi Sababa,

Welcome to the site.

It is common for a impacted stool to cause fissure. If you are having issues with impacted stools, I would recommend a high fiber diet with lost of fruits and vegies and drink as least 64 oz of water a day. There also some fiber supplements that you may want to consider. Taking MiraLax will also help to soften the stools and it appears to the best stool softener for a fissure. If you can get your stools soft and your fissure is new, it is possible to heal the fissure in two or three weeks.

The hard stool puts a lot of pressure on the fissure area with straining during the BM.

Thanks Roidsfizzma.

It is fairly new, just short of 2 weeks. Dr. said its a fissure and prescribed a cream to put 3 times a day and recommended a high fiber diet. but even with increased fiber its still hard, i am thinking to take Miralax but i never used it and i wanna make sure it will not cause damage to the fissure.

Hi Sababa,
Miralax is safe to take and it will help heal your fissure. I am surprised that your doctor did not recommend Miralax or a stool softener. Your goal should be to have one or two BM's per day with the stool texture like tooth paste. The size of the stool should not be larger than a banana. Hot baths about 15 minutes in ankle deep water two or three time a day to get blood flowing in the area can help the healing. I would also recommend that you do not eat any cheese as it does cause hard stools in many people and I do not eat any read meats. Every one is different with their diet and you need to try different thing to get your correct combination.

I wish you the best.
