newbie who needs help!

Postby frazzles77 » 17 Sep 2014, 19:24

Hi all, l cannot tell you how pleased l am to have found this forum... didn't think for one minute one would exist. Anyway... l have had a fissue for around 8 months....and l have been given the rectal ointment that l use twice a day.. seems to work for around 6 weeks then it tears again and back to square one....l am taking 2 movicols a day and four ducolease.. last visit to the dr when examining me he said that just him trying to check the area was tearing.... this has upset me no end... as l thought things were getting better.

I am now thinking of paying to go to a private hospital in London to see if they can do anything.. l don't really want to go down the route of surgery... even my dr said.. you don't want to go down that route which obvs put me off....

I am willing to try anything to help with this.....

Many Thanks

Did he say why he didn't recommend surgery? Was he talking about LIS? I assume you're seeing a CRS. It sounds like you're doing a lot of the right things, but maybe things are very tight down there. I'm curious what a second opinion from another CRS would tell you.
Status: LIS 20 Oct 2014, 2nd LIS 05 March 2018.

Hi Frazzles,
I think it was unfair and unprofessional of your GP to give you such advice and if it is just a GP you were seeing, please get referred to a CRS as soon as possible! It is evident that your fissure is chronic, is not responding to the creams and there are other routes that can be taken, such as Botox injections prior to any form of LIS surgery. GP's are not the best or the specialists in such a delicate area! Do not fear LIS or surgery if you need it, which you may possibly need....it has helped an awful lot of people on this site and to restore their quality of life again.
Are you taking lots of hot baths and using heat to the area as this is extremely soothing and helps restore blood flow to that area to promote healing?
There are a few success stories with the help of Mr Windsor in London and a good CRS will help you through this. If you have any form of health cover or cover under a Cash plan scheme, use it to obtain an initial consultation as soon as possible. I did exactly this, got immediate referral to a CRS (within 2 days) for a diagnosis and then asked to continue treatment under the NHS. I was then treated by the same CRS within the "system".
Please don't continue to suffer and please seek alternative advice - you can become so much better from this condition but you must find the right person to help you.
Wishing you all the very best on getting yourself sorted and don't hesitate to come back here for further reassurance and advice. Everyone here understands what you are going through and some of the best advice comes from this website :)

Thank you for replying... the only person l have seen is my GP but today l will be ringing the Cromwell Hospital in London as my brother swears by this hospital... don't have any private cover but at this point l don't care about paying for it....

Yes, I am being treated by mr alistair Windsor. He has a private practice on Harley street, and also works as a consultant at university college hospital. He has got a very good bedside manner.... I highly recommend him.

I can't remember all the details, but if you google the London clinic and alistair Windsor it will come up with all the relevant contact details.

Hope you can get things sorted

Thank you for the info... have found a professor Allen-Mersh who is at the Cromwell Hospital in London hoping for an apt on Tuesday.... they offered me an apt at 10am.... an hours notice... certainly need a bit more than that!
