MS, I am a male and I don't think I have any other issues aside from the fissure. The pain is pretty much located to that one location. The burning sensation only if the stool is too lose and acidic from certain foods.

Intercourse, if too short a duration after a re-tear can aggravate the site but if I have been re-tear free for a couple weeks it is usually fine. I'm straight BTW. Nothing going in there.

Should I bring up the pelvic floor with the CRS or find a different doctor for that?

You should bring it up but don't be surprised if the doctor is not knowledgeable on this condition and ask to be referred to someone that is.

Thought I would follow up with where I'm at..

Botox scheduled for October 10th. Doctor seemed to know his stuff and said this is what they are doing for chronic fissures now. He said the top layer had healed but the fissure was a deep wound that would not fully heal on it's own. I would keep re-tearing as a result. He has had very good results with this and said there is not really any heal time needed and that I could work the next day. 2 weeks after would be my checkup and that is usually the point at which that area has recovered a great deal.

Perhaps if my original Doctor had started me on the Diltaizem or like cream right when I had the fissure, I would of had a chance to heal. At this point I need a procedure done.

I found this doctor by doing a search for CRS in my area - around 40 miles. Found this guy and he had great reviews online so I setup a meeting. I came to realize that no one in my local town could offer any help so it was time to explore outside options.

If you feel like you are not being helped by your doctor, please don't limit yourself to their opinion or treatment - seek another professional who can help.

Fingers crossed that this does the trick.. Pretty long 6 months of this.
Thanks

Hi Laker sorry to hear an all to familiar story, as mine was pretty much the same, went 6 months in discomfort, and pain before LIS, no surgery Is fun, but this one is well worth it, I had surgery June 18th, and am still not 100% healed, had 2 follow up visits with the nurse practioner, last was on Sept 17th, and I was able to let her do an internal which I think set me back a bit, but each day seem a little better, went through a period of a lot of spasms, but no pain like before surgery after I had surgery. Can't overstress the sitz baths, was doing 4 a day for a while at first, now I have slacked off, still taking a stool softener, and am doing things like going easy on hot food which I love, but I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. I had pain that made me go cross eyed, so this is an improvement, will I get to 100%? We will see, but I was told recovery takes a long time. This is no fun the nurse told me she had a patient who had open heart surgery, and said this was worse in comparison.
Hope this helps, and best of luck.

Laker,

My Botox treatment help lessened bm pain; I continue to have burning pain after sitting on my rectum for a long period of time. My pelvic floor muscles are relaxed but my sphincter is still tight... So doctor suggested Botox in the sphincter in December.

I don't actually have too much pain during the bowel movement, instead about 2 hours afterwards the burning sets in and then continues all day long.

Is the burning there whether you sit down or stand up? Does the intensity increase when sitting?

Anyone have prickly irritation?

My burning these days is during both but the worst when I am moving around, and it can definitely be prickly. Like someone is sticking multiple hot knives in there. I have had this after pelvic floor botox before but this is the worst it has been. I think it is complicated by my fissures. I really think it is my internal sphincter. Sometimes it's better when it relaxes to have a BM, although this is becoming less frequent as the botox in my internal sphincter wears off. When do you get your ointment? I am curious if that will help. It helps mine a bit, I think.

'08-'15 Botox for pelvic floor dysfunction
Nov '14 LIS/sentinel tag removal
Feb '15 Deroofing of recurrent infection from LIS
summer '15-healed but still ongoing muscle dysfunction/pain
