2nd surgery tomorrow

Postby sotiredofthis » 30 Oct 2014, 11:56

So my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Here's the previous thread update-of-my-problems-post-lis-t8959.html.

Scared out of my mind!!! I just dread another surgery on my bum so soon after LIS. :groan:

Please Pray all goes well this time and this is the final answer. I just want my life back!!

Thanks! :smilyhug:

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. I'm recovering and taking it easy. Some good news and some not so good news. My CRS didn't do as much as she thought so I'm hoping I'll recover quicker than last time. I'm already so tired of laying around and my back is killing me!

She did cut off a weird skin tag that came up near the incision site of my LIS in April. It was hard and painful at times. It also made clean up a little harder. That of course was left as an open wound to heal on it's own. So painful! :groan:

She was going to cut and re-stitch what she thought was another area of scar tissue but when she got in she discovered it wasn't scar tissue but it was my muscle. It was tight and kind of bound up. So she massaged the area and injected some steroid into it like you would another muscle on your body like your shoulder or back. She's hoping that will soften it up and relax it. She also thinks that could be causing some minor tears. I wonder if it's a complication from my LIS.

She wants me to stop using Vaseline or aquarfor on my bum when I have a bm. She's thinking the ingredients in them are causing more irritation than doing any good. I probably need to up my Mirilax as well so keep my stools a little softer. Such a delicate balance with IBS.

Another note of good news was that my previous fissure looked healed! :actiongirl:

So the news I find could be bad is while she was in there she measured my muscle and said it is very short and not thick so doing any other LIS on me in the future would not be possible as I would probably be incontinent. Again having IBS makes that even more scary. At my pre-op appointment she also did another pressure test and my pressure was down significantly since LIS in April. She said I may be one of those people who are chronically on nitro or Diltiazem. So I guess if I ever have more major tearing I'll have to have a flap. I can't even tell you how scary that sounds to me. :~!@:

She wants me to concentrate on sitting a bit more forward so I'm not putting so much pressure on that muscle area. She suggested a bean bag type of pillow to sit on that would kind of push up a little in between my cheeks to support the area. Maybe some pelvic floor therapy to relax some as well. She says I have a very small/flat butt and when I sit I sit right on my tail bone and my anal opening stretches open a little. This is probably the only time in my life I was bummed at someone telling me I had a small butt!

So I'm not sure what to think at this point. I'm just going to work on healing from this procedure and take one step at a time.

Thanks again. You are all in my daily prayers. :smilyhug:

Thanks for the update!
Both positives and negatives there... But it's really good news your original fissures have healed!
Hopefully if you adopt the changes she has suggested things will naturally improve for you.
