Infection questions

Postby msimon » 28 Nov 2014, 19:46

Hi all. I had LIS 2 weeks ago and have since developed an infection (I guess it's not an abcess because it is draining-albeit very slowly). My CRS put me one antibiotics (5 days of Flagyl and Cipro) and told me to 'milk' the swelled area. It is swollen on the outside and I am supposed to 'milk it' upward so it can drain out of my LIS incision site. I have tried this twice and really don't feel that I am getting anywhere besides traumatizing the area no matter how gentle I go. I don't know if anything is coming out as the incision is buried by swelling. I am feeling very frustrated and worried and just want to know if anyone has had to do this and whether there are any tricks. I am so worried it's going to be an abcess...and the antibiotics are already making me so sick to my stomach! :groan: Is 5 days of antibiotics enough? When should I start to feel them working? :thankyou:

msimon, How are you feeling? the antibiotics should have kicked in by now, they usually kick in after 1-2 days(In my case). Can i ask you where the incision site is? I'm pretty sure I have to get surgery as well, but I'm terrified they cut INSIDE the anus :o

I hope you're feeling better and that the surgery helps you get back to life <3

That's so sweet Alyssa. Thanks :) I really needed that.

Soey, I was feeling a bit better about 3 days into the antibiotics but then things got worse again. Not sure what happened but the puss and burning are back. My incision is 'supposed' to be on the outside it's just that things swelled up so much it can't be seen (unless the CRS pries, and he did!). I really feel like the muscle there is spasming really bad as it burns much of the day. Odd thing though is that BMs are easier and don't hurt so much anymore. It's the skin down there that is killing me. When BM or puss touch it is burns so bad! I feel like I have a hundred little cuts down there. I see my CRS again on Thursday and I hope so much he can help this. I cannot stand this pain ANYMORE!
