It's when You use two fingers pressing the soft spot between your anus and your tailbone. I have IBS, so I can never have a perfect poo.. But gently pressing that spot makes the stool take a 'different turn', and it won't irritate the fissure/scar tissue as much. My CRS says it is proven to be very helpful. I do this every time I have a BM, it's gotten to be a habit.

Humm... Thanks. I will try it. I will try anything to help this condition. Now, my spam came out of the blue about 5 hours after the last BM so I am not seeing a connection to the spasm and the BM. I had been carrying groceries into the house though and was thinking that is what may have caused it. Are you saying that the finger pressure method helps with spasms or just with BMs. Someone told me they read if you have a rectal spasm to sit on your fist?? I think if I were in that much pain again I would sit on anything to try to get it to stop. Thank God for this form, really where else could you talk about these things???

Yes, the finger pressure point made the spasms stop in my case. OR it could just be a coincidense. Are you sure it was a spasme? I get this 'shooting'pain sometimes. Have no idea what they are, but they are so bad I can hardly breathe. This could be from a hemmie I've gotten because of the botox.. Have you tried an icecube wrapped in a wet towel? This also gave me some pain relief when I had ONE fissure. When the next fissure came along, I couldnt do nothing except lie down and pray for.. well.. death :(
I know, this forum really is a blessing. This is the only place I feel that someone is actually listening and giving helpful advice.

have you tried cramp bark? also valerian and other herbal muscle relaxers will help some if you don't have access to valium, etc... just start guzzling till pain goes down.

but seriously get some valium suppositories, or something, no one should be in this kind of pain.

Yes I am certain it was a rectal spasm. I do get the sharp shooting pains at times as well. The spasm was so bad it seemed to spread and my uterus started spasming too almost like cramps. That is what really blew my mind. Ian going to request vLium supposing in case that happens and will check into the natural relaxers too. Thanks guys.

Wounded, I use ativan sublingual tablets. Ativan is shorter acting and makes me feel less dopey and the sublingual part makes it act within minutes.

Thank you, good to know msimon. I will discuss both with my doctor. Thank God I have not had one since that day. But just the thoughts of it makes me anxious. Fissure - the gift that just keeps giving - giving me hell that is.
